Rejoining a seasonal sport is often highly anticipated by enthusiasts! Whether you’re passionate about cross-country skiing, tennis, golf, or any other activity, it’s important to properly prepare for the new season to avoid unpleasant surprises. A rapid return can lead to many issues.
Here are a few tips for your next return to activity:
- Anticipate the return to your sport: Before the new season begins, implement a training program specific to your activity. This will ensure that you have the necessary strength, mobility, and endurance to return to your sport safely.
- Warm up and cool down properly: Start each session with a brief warm-up and end each one with a cooling period. This helps prepare your body for the physical exertion and aids recovery afterward.
- Begin gradually: Start with short sessions at a lower intensity. Also, space out your sessions with a rest day in between. Gradually increase the duration and intensity of your activity as your body adapts.
- Stay hydrated: Proper hydration is key to keeping your body functioning at its best during exercise.
