After gaining extensive experience in occupational therapy in an outpatient hand therapy clinic with post-operative patients at various hospitals, we were struck by the lack of access to specialized hand therapy services in the greater Quebec City area. Driven by a deep desire to make these services accessible to anyone living with upper limb dysfunction, we shared a common vision: to create a unique clinic offering specialized care from the hand to the shoulder, accessible to all.
Thus, Dexterity was born in the fall of 2011. Since our opening, we have worked tirelessly to provide comprehensive services, always placing the human being at the heart of our approach. We are proud to have built a passionate, innovative, and multidisciplinary team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, kinesiologists, orthotists, and prosthetists. We also have the pleasure of working in collaboration with key professionals in the field such as plastic surgeons, orthopedists, physiatrists, rheumatologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, sports physicians, and more.

What is hand therapy?
Hand therapy is a branch of rehabilitation that developed in response to the need for specialization in the knowledge and experience required to treat the anatomical and functional complexity of the upper limb. It aims to effectively support the recovery, which can sometimes be complex, of injuries and conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.
Through targeted therapeutic interventions, hand therapy enables individuals with various conditions to regain their full functional potential. Hand therapists intervene both in prevention and in post-surgical or non-surgical rehabilitation, tailoring their approach to each specific issue. The main goal is to promote an optimal return to daily, professional, sports, and recreational activities.
Depending on the nature of the condition to be treated, therapy may be carried out by an occupational therapist or a physiotherapist, each bringing complementary expertise to maximize therapeutic outcomes.
